Commodore's Comments for December
December may be the busiest and best non-boating
month of the year. (It is starting to get a little “chilly”). The club’s
month is filled with activities that have something for everyone. Special
thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary for putting the club into the Christmas season
with their tree trimming party.
The month of December starts with the Boat Parade, so head on down
to the bar to watch the boats pass by the Charleston Battery. There
is the traditional holiday General meeting with a holiday meal fit for a
king. On December 17th, there is the Commodore’s drop-in. It is a perfect
time to wish all of your friends a happy holiday season and enjoy some great
food. Prior to the Drop – In, on Saturday the 14th, there is one of
the most joyous days of the club with Breakfast with Santa. Please
bring your children to greet Santa for his return visit and enjoy a homemade
breakfast.
Of course, we will have the traditional New Years’ Eve Party and Bloody
Mary’s & Hop-in-Jon on New Years’ day.
Special thanks to Steve Shapiro, Ron Maguire, Bosie Picquet, Bruce
Hoffmann, Jay Stewart, and a few others for helping get our floating docks
out for the winter season. We’ll be working on them for the next few
months to insure they are ready when the warm weather returns.
Our finance committee has been busy over the last few months, and
their recommendations have been brought to the Board of Directors.
Over the next few months the Board will be bringing new policies and recommendations
to the General membership; therefore, look for information in upcoming Cygnets,
and don’t forget to mark the days of our general meeting on your calendar.
Hope to see you at the Club,
Tom McMillan - Commodore

Congratulations to all the participants
in the Annual Battle of James Island!
The James Island Yacht Club’s team came in a very respectable 2nd Place
( with a special thanks to Joe Cline and Steve Burns for winning a crucial
match ).
It is a great time for All, and if you missed this one, keep an eye out for
the next Battle.

Information about the Use
of Bar Tabs
Please be aware that once Bar tabs are calculated at the end of the
month, and $1 service charge is added to cover postage and materials.
If that tab is not paid in full by the end of the following month, past due
charges will accumulate, and credit privileges may be revoked until
the bill is fully paid.
