Commodore's Comments
  Happy New Year everyone!

2004 is going to be a great year at the JIYC. We ended 2003 with one of the most successful social calendars in years. The New Year’s party was terrific – a great dinner and lots of laughs afterwards. In the last half of 2003 the Ladies Auxiliary and the House Committee lead off the social charge with numerous events that kept the Club a very enjoyable place to be. I know 2004 will be equally active and I hope all members take full advantage of each social occasion.
The Club is entering the new calendar year in a reasonable financial condition. There are some substantial costs coming up in the next few months but your Board of Directors has plans in place to manage each situation. I think that, as a Club, we are improving our ability to plan for the future. We have a top notch Board of Directors.
Once again I have to comment on the strong spirit of volunteerism at our Club. Over the Holidays I saw members working on numerous
projects – always with a smile and a good sense of fun.  The Cooking Committee was in the kitchen at 6:00AM for the Santa breakfast – the Ladies Auxiliary has decorated the place on numerous occasions in the past month (and it always looks great) – Keith Livermore and our Ladies Auxiliary managed the New Years Party – Steve Ayling at House Committee is always the man in the middle of the action – George Cook, Mike Spivey, David Hazeltine and the Long Range Committee are working hard on some new idea – Grounds committee never stops working – and I know I am not mentioning half of the volunteers working  over the last month.  We are truly fortunate to be part of such a wonderful group of people.

See you at the Club!

   Ladies Auxiliary Comments:

A very Happy New Year to you, and your loved ones. Our wish for you is that you continue to come and enjoy your time at the club and take advantage of what we are planning for you. Many thanks to all of you who helped make the club "bright " for the holidays. To those who joined us for New Year's Eve we hoped you enjoyed the Glitz, Glamour and Gambling. Bravo to the committee!
The auxiliary's donation to Families Helping Families allowed 2 James Island families to have a better Christmas not to mention how much fun we had shopping for them.
The New Year will bring many more entertaining events such as the Chili Cook-Off, Wine Tasting with Jazz, Leather and Lace Night, Green Night, Bunny Night, Mexican Night. We will also sign people up to do a "Walk for Camp Bluebird " on Sullivan's Island as a JIYC team in March.
Our board is having so much fun planning that we do not lack from encouragement but try us anyway. Give us your ideas and we love seeing you down here so keep coming and we'll keep planning.
Please take advantage of our Web-site for the calendar and description of upcoming events.
