Commodore's Comments for JUNE
It is officially summer time with
the arrival of our Regatta! But before I discuss the busy month ahead
of us, I have to mention our Back to Summer Party. As usual it was a
great event & everyone enjoyed the food and music. A special thanks
to Bobby Townsend and Atlantic for providing the tent for our function.
The regatta is a weeklong celebration at the club. On Monday,
June 9th, we start the week with a happy hour prior to our general meeting.
As usual, we will be serving Pina Coladas at 6:30pm. Our great cooking committee
will serve the usual fabulous dinner later that night ( at 7pm), followed
by a short business meeting.
On Wednesday, frozen margaritas will be served, complete with lime
& salt. As usual, we ask that you bring a snack to add to the celebration.
Of course the big night is Friday, with the traditional cocktail party hosted
by the Ladies Auxiliary. Having gone to many a club, I can say that
this is by far the best party that any club gives for their regatta.
Come and enjoy! Please help the ladies when they call.
The regatta will be Saturday and Sunday. Our Vice-Commodore,
Bruce, will need everyone’s support. We expect over 130 boats this year,
so come at noon to see the fleet leave the club. We will finish off
of the dock on both days, so stay and see the excitement. We will have
food available most of the day, and nothing is finer than the french-fries
at regatta. The awards will be given on Sunday after the racing is completed,
and there are some very special awards given to club members.
I would like to thank the fishing committee for all their hard work
in getting the tournament together, especially Bobby, Rick, Larry, Evans &
Ron who have done this for years. I remind club members to get involved
as this committee, as well as all others committees, are looking for some
new blood.
Hope to see you at the Club,
Tom McMillan - Commodore

Regatta is coming soon and the Women’s Auxiliary is
excited about the weekend. The
T-shirts design is sensational and we are proud of Paul’s creation.
As always I am depending upon you to sign up for some small
pieces of your time that weekend to help with Way & Means and T-shirt
sales.
We will also need volunteers to bring food for the special
drink nights and for the cocktail party on Friday night.
Please call me or stop me ( Maureen McDaniel) at the club if you
are willing to help.
Home- 406-4867
Work- 792-7057
Looking forward to working with you and for the club.
Vice President
Maureen McDaniel
